$60,000 Investment in Accessible Outdoor Spaces in North Bay

NORTH BAY – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $60,000 in the Shaded and Accessible, Picnic Tables and Benches project to improve accessibility and support people of all ages and abilities in North Bay. Through the Inclusive Community Grants Program, this project will receive funding to improve community life for older Ontarians and people with disabilities.

“Our government understands the importance of inclusivity and accessibility within our community, and we are pleased to see the partnership between the province and the City of North Bay result in increased accessibility in our outdoor public spaces,” said MPP Vic Fedeli.

“The City of North Bay is grateful for the Ontario government’s investment in this program and its ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents of all ages and abilities,” said Mayor Peter Chirico. “This funding will improve accessibility in our parks, helping to create more inclusive spaces within our community.”

The City of North Bay will receive up to $60,000 to install seven accessible picnic tables with shade structures throughout the city in existing accessible park locations. This will impact approximately 1500 individuals of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to participate in these core public spaces.

In 2023-24, a total of up to $750,000 is being invested in the Inclusive Community Grants Program. Since this initiative was created in 2020, it has provided up to $4.5 million to support 87 projects promoting inclusivity and accessibility in Ontario.
