Black hole in Sunshine List

There’s a giant black hole in the Sunshine List this year, say opposition politicians, who are outraged the sell-off of Hydro One means it’s no longer subject to legislation requiring the salaries of all public servants making more than $100,000 be made public.

“This is the glaring reality that despite the fact that taxpayers own 85% of Hydro One, we don’t have any access to all of the salaries of all of the staff, and that’s a gaping hole in this year’s release,” said Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli.

Ontario reaction to the federal budget

MPP Vic Fedeli said the federal budget — which also forecasts a deficit approaching $30 billion this year, three times higher than (Prime Minister) Trudeau promised — was a case of lockup letdown for Ontario.

“There was nothing special” for the transit-hungry province despite (Premier) Wynne’s political efforts on the prime minister’s behalf, Fedeli said.

Fedeli vows to fight drug benefit program changes

Proposed changes to the Ontario Drug Benefit Program will make it even tougher for seniors already struggling to pay their bills.

North Bay senior Bonnie Beam admits she only turns the heat on in her bathroom because the cost of hydro is “astronomical.

Beam was speaking at a media conference at Vic Fedeli’s constituency office, where the Nipissing MPP vowed to stand up for seniors at Queen’s Park.

“I am demanding the (Kathleen) Wynne government backtrack on proposed changes to seniors’ drug benefits contained in the 2016 budget.”
