$40,000 to Build a Stronger Community

October 12, 2022

NIPISSING – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $40,000 through the Anti-Racism Anti-Hate Grant to build stronger, safer and more inclusive communities. This funding will support Endaayaan Awejaa to build Nipissing’s capacity to combat and prevent racism and hate in all its forms.

“Solutions to combat racism and hate are needed urgently and require a collaborative community approach,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “That’s why our government is making this critical investment to empower those on the frontlines fighting against racism and hate in our communities.”

“This funding is assisting us with spreading the message about Truth and Reconciliation through a small documentary. The documentary we are working on is helping us share the life experiences of Indigenous youth and elders and how the effects of colonization have impacted their lives and communities. With this funding, we are also able to showcase the work that these individuals are doing to create change within their communities to strengthen Indigenous roots and culture for the next 7 generations.” – Natasha Lariviere, CEO & Founder of Endaayaan Awejaa.

Ontario is providing a total of $3.2 million through the Anti-Racism Anti-Hate Grant to support 58 projects across the province. These grants support eligible organizations, including community-based and not-for-profit organizations, to lead initiatives that deepen the public’s understanding of the impacts of racism.
