Ready to Serve on a Local or Provincial Board?

Members of the public sit on the Boards of Ontario agencies to help in the decision-making of public services 

NORTH BAY – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing is reminding constituents that provincial public appointments are open on an ongoing basis for organizations such as area Police Boards, Trillium Foundation, Long-Term Care Homes, NOHFC, etc. All information about applying for Public Boards can be found on the following website:Public appointments | ontario.ca

“Public appointees are members of the public that participate on the boards of provincial agencies and other public organizations,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “Their responsibilities include overseeing and providing strategic direction to a provincial agency, providing advice to ministers, and resolving disputes.” 

The Public Appointments Secretariat oversees all Ontario government appointments to provincial agencies and other community boards and organizations.

To be eligible to apply to become a public appointee, you must be:

  • a resident of Ontario
  • proficient in either English or French
  • able to attend meetings in Ontario

Creating an online account is useful and allows government ministries to see your profile as they look for suitable candidates for available positions. Once your account is set up, you can also:

  • express interest in agencies and sectors of your choice
  • sign up to receive email alerts when advertisements are posted
  • view your application history
  • adjust your profile visibility to all ministries, or restrict it to only your agencies of choice
  • change your preferences at any time
