Licensed Child Care Workers Now Eligible for Vaccines

April 27, 2021

NIPISSING – MPP Vic Fedeli is pleased to announce that licensed child care workers will be eligible to book a vaccine appointment beginning Thursday, April 29. Our childcare centres are safe and the expansion of vaccines will further protect children and staff.

“The efforts of child care leaders, educators, and staff have been instrumental in helping to keep children safe and families supported,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “We are taking further action to support these critical frontline workers and their families by expanding vaccination eligibility.”

The following child care workers will be eligible:

  • Licensees, employees and students (18+) on an educational placement who interact directly with children in licensed child care centres and in authorized recreation and skill building programs.
  • Licensed home child care and in-home service providers, employees of a home child care agency and students (18+) on an educational placement who interact directly with children in a licensed home child care setting.

Eligible workers in the licensed child care system will receive a letter from their employer. This letter must be available at the point of booking and taken to the vaccination appointment. Eligible child care workers in our area can call the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit 1-800-563-2808 option 5 to book your appointment. Individuals will be asked identifying questions, such as the child care setting in which they work.

Our government will expand registration for vaccination to unlicensed child care workers in the coming weeks and look forward to sharing more details as they become available.
