More Child Care for Frontline Staff

May 19, 2020

NORTH BAY — Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced that a further emergency child care centre – the YMCA Mother St. Bride Centre – is now open for frontline workers. This ensures that frontline health care workers – doctors, nurses and paramedics, firefighters, police, and correctional officers – will be able to access safe, local emergency child care.

As previously announced, Ontario is exempting certain childcare centres from closure, in order to support our nurses, doctors, and frontline care workers across the province. The YMCA Mother St. Bride Centre joins the YMCA Woodland Early Learning and Child Care Centre in North Bay, and Fairview Early Learning and Child Care Centre in Powassan, as available centres.

“During these challenging times, our Government is supporting our frontline workers with emergency childcare centres so they can rest assured, knowing their children are being looked after in a safe place,” said Fedeli.  “Our frontline workers will have access to safe, local child care centres, making it easier for health care and other frontline workers to do their jobs.”
