Ontario Helping Nipissing Kids Through After-School Investments

December 18, 2019

NORTH BAY – Ontario’s government is investing $165,930 in the City of North Bay and the YMCA in North Bay to help keep kids in Nipissing physically active, healthy and ready to learn so they can succeed at school and in life.

“Through Ontario’s After School Program, our government is pleased to help support local organizations to keep their children and youth physically active and engaged,” said Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli.

Ontario’s After School Program funds no-cost, fun, safe, supervised activities for students during the school year in high-need neighbourhoods across the province.

“Kids need safe spaces to grow and thrive,” said Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. “Participating in quality after-school activities helps kids improve their grades and boosts their self-esteem. Ontario is pleased to support local organizations to deliver this vital program to their communities.”

Ontario’s After School Program serves more than 21,000 children and youth grades 1-12 at over 400 sites through 117 organizations.
