Nipissing Residents to Receive Volunteer Service Awards

September 19, 2019

NORTH BAY – The Ontario government values volunteers and is recognizing the positive impact of their selfless efforts in their communities.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is pleased that the outstanding contributions of 98 volunteers will be recognized at a local awards event at the Best Western in North Bay on Monday evening, September 23.

“Volunteers are a vital part of our social fabric. The government is pleased to honour their efforts through the Ontario Volunteer Service Award,” said Fedeli.

“Volunteers touch our lives in so many ways — whether it’s providing comfort to the sick, companionship for older Ontarians or coaching children and youth sports, they make our province one of the greatest places to live.”

The awards recognize individuals for continuous years of volunteer service at organizations such as hospitals, seniors’ centres and community associations. Award recipients are nominated by the organizations they serve and receive certificates and customized trillium pins.

Ontario is proud to recognize their efforts with the Ontario Volunteer Service Award and encourages all residents to give back to their communities.

QUICK FACTS:

  • Since 1986, more than 250,000 volunteers have been recognized through the Ontario Volunteer Service Award.
  • Adult volunteers are recognized for five to 65+ years of continuous service in five-year increments.
