Fedeli Announces Funding for IION
January 10, 2019NORTH BAY – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli today announced a $330,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) for Innovation Initiatives Ontario North (IION).
Fedeli made the announcement today alongside IION Executive Director Rob Deline.
The funding over three years is to expand the Entrepreneurship Development program (EDP), which provides work placement and mentorship opportunities.
The initiative is aimed at helping Northerners become entrepreneurs, and is expected to have an impact on more than 200 people.
IION is a regional innovation centre based at Canadore College and Nipissing University in North Bay. Its mandate is to increase the volume and velocity of economic growth among both innovative start-ups and existing Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs.)
“This type of investment is key to creating and growing new jobs in Nipissing and Northeastern Ontario, and is proof Northern Ontario is open for business,” said Fedeli.
