MPP FEDELI DEMANDS ACTION ON UNAFFORDABLE ELECTRICITY RATES
August 17, 2016NORTH BAY – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is calling on the Wynne government to take immediate action regarding the skyrocketing cost of electricity in Ontario.
“I have launched a petition calling upon the Wynne government to come to their senses and stop their failed energy policies that have driven electricity costs to unaffordable levels, forcing many Ontarians to choose whether to heat their homes or buy food for the family table,” MPP Fedeli stated.
“I’ve seen first-hand the impacts skyrocketing energy rates have had on the hardworking people of our community,” continued Fedeli.
Since this government first took office, average households in Ontario are paying $1,000 more a year on their annual hydro bills. It was recently confirmed that Ontario ratepayers now officially pay the highest residential electricity rates in North America.
“They took over an electricity system that was delivering plentiful, affordable energy to residents and businesses, and attracting jobs to Ontario. They destroyed this advantage despite years of growing evidence that their ill-conceived policies were making energy less and less affordable for all Ontarians.”
Once completed, Fedeli will read a copy of the petition in the Ontario Legislature on behalf of all signatories.
“Enough is enough, Ontario’s residents and businesses must be heard directly,” Fedeli concluded.
