New Ontario Arts Council Funding Announced: Fedeli

July 13, 2016

NORTH BAY – $75,000 has been awarded to a local organization under the Ontario Women’s Directorate, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.

Nipissing is home to one of 11 successful grant recipients for Ontario’s $2.25 million Creative Engagement Fund to Stop Sexual Violence and Harassment in Ontario.

Aanmitaagzi, a local group from Nipissing First Nation, was awarded $75,000 through the Creative Engagement Fund toward a three-year touring project, “Material Witness.” It will include both community engagement workshops and a theatre production that explores themes of sexual violence, harassment and violence against Indigenous women.

The successful projects were selected by an advisory panel of artists and other professionals with expertise in violence and harassment prevention.

“I offer my congratulations to Aanmitaagzi for their commitment to preventing violence and harassment and building a safe community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed,” said Fedeli.
