Nominations Open for the Order of Ontario
March 11, 2026NORTH BAY – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced that the Ontario government is accepting nominations for the province’s highest honour, the Order of Ontario. This award honours individuals from diverse backgrounds whose exceptional contributions have shaped our communities and this province. Nominations are being accepted until March 31, 2026.
“The Order of Ontario is awarded to an Ontarian who has shown an extraordinary level of excellence and achievement in their field. Members of the Order are a collective of Ontario’s finest citizens, whose contributions have shaped, and continue to shape, the province’s history and place in Canada,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “Today we’re reaching out to our community to encourage nomination submissions before the deadline.”
To be eligible the person you nominate (the nominee) must be:
- a long-term or former resident of Ontario (the nominee does not need to be a Canadian citizen)
- someone whose career, in any field, has had a major impact or influence on the province, Canada and around the world (examples include business and technology, skilled trades, mining and many more)
- living at the time of nomination

An independent Advisory Council to the Order of Ontario reviews and evaluates all nominations. The council recommends nominees who have the greatest merit for appointment to the Lieutenant Governor in Council of Ontario (LGIC).
