Over $340,000 to Enhance Live-in Treatment Services
March 6, 2026NIPISSING — Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $348,600 to Hands the Family Help Network (HANDS) to support a new initiative, the Ontario Intensive Treatment Pathway (OTIP). This one-time funding will help enhance existing Live in Treatment programs across Ontario to better align with providers who follow the OITP model.
“The Ontario Intensive Treatment Pathway will create a coordinated model for local children, youth, and their families to access the right treatment at the right time.” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “This investment offers direct support to improve frontline services and client outcomes here in Nipissing.”
“This one-time funding through the Ontario Intensive Treatment Pathway (OITP) strengthens live-in treatment services by enhancing evidence-based clinical capacity and fostering a trauma-informed, culturally safe environment, while creating meaningful opportunities for youth wellness, recreation, and community connection. By working within the OITP, we are supporting youth and their families on their journey, wherever they are right now.”- Andrea Roberts, CEO of HANDS.
The OITP is an opportunity to transform the intensive treatment system in Ontario to ensure that children and youth with serious mental illness have timely access to effective, inclusive, respectful, and individualized intensive treatment with family and community supports to enable their best futures. The OITP will be a provincially guided, regionally delivered, and connected model for treatment of children and youth with the most intensive mental health needs.
In 2020, the Ontario government released the Roadmap to Wellness supported by an investment of $3.8 billion over 10 years, with a vision of creating a mental health and addictions system where everyone has high-quality and easily accessible mental health and addictions support available to them throughout their lifetime.
