$32,250 to Support Economic Development in Bonfield
January 20, 2026Additionally, application open for the 2nd round of the Rural Ontario Development Program
BONFIELD – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced the Ontario government is investing $32,250 to the Township of Bonfield through the Rural Ontario Development (ROD) Program to address barriers to growth, protect local jobs, and better position the community to attract and retain investment.
“We’re pleased that with this $32,250 investment, Bonfield will have the opportunity to strengthen their economy and keep workers on the job,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “The next round of the ROD is now open to accept applications, and we encourage our rural municipalities, businesses, Indigenous groups, and not-for-profit organizations in Nipissing to apply for funding.”
“On behalf of the Township of Bonfield, I would like to extend our thanks to the Province of Ontario and to the Honourable Vic Fedeli, MPP, for supporting our application for a grant through the Rural Ontario Development Program. This support will make a meaningful difference for us to target markets for the Township to attract new investments and to assist in retaining and expanding our current businesses,” said Narry Paquette, Mayor of Bonfield.
“This investment in our work will strengthen our capacity to develop a more robust economic community. The Township primarily depends on residential taxes. Residents feel that their residential taxes are too high. This is a reality of small communities, and the Council understands that growth in assessments and the economy is necessary to remain attractive as a place to live and grow. Your support will bring positive change to the people we serve. Once again, thank you!” added Mayor Paquette.
As part of its plan to protect Ontario, the government is launching the second intake of the Rural Ontario Development Program, a $20 million investment. The announcement was made at the 2026 annual Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference, with applications opening immediately. The deadline for applications is February 26, 2026: Rural Ontario Development Program
