$184,400 to Support Innovative Programs and Services

NIPISSING — Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is providing three non-profit organizations in Nipissing with a total of $184,400 in funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Seed grant stream. This investment will help provide local residents with better access to the critical programs, services, activities and spaces that make Nipissing a great place to live, work, and play.

“Our government believes local non-profit organizations enrich the lives of people in Nipissing and play an important role in building a strong community and prosperous economy. That is why Ontario is proud to support these program and service providers through the Ontario Trillium Funds Seed grants,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “This support will enable these three organizations receiving funding to deliver essential programming and better serve the people of Nipissing, making a positive difference for years to come.”

“This grant is transformative for both our community and OUTLoud North Bay. It enables us to connect with youth and their families right where they are, break down barriers to healthy eating, and provide practical skills that truly improve everyday life,” – Seth Compton, Executive Director of OutLoud North Bay.

“This funding will assist the Municipality of Powassan set goals on how we move forward providing recreation opportunities to the entire community.” – Peter McIsaac, Mayor of the Municipality of Powassan.

“Nipissing Serenity Hospice is very grateful for the Seed Grant received through the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This funding will allow our Hospice to complete strategic planning that will provide clear direction and guidance over the next five years, enabling proactive decision-making and enhancing operational efficiency. This strategic planning ensures that our mission and vision are front and center and our values align with the communities that we serve.” – Gil Pharand, Executive Director of Nipissing Serenity Hospice.

Local funding includes:

  • $91,300 to OUTLoud North Bay over 12 months to co-design and test a one-year, low-barrier cooking and budgeting program that will help people stretch food dollars and eat well.
  • $63,400 to Municipality of Powassan over 6 months to create a Master Recreation Plan to better utilize current assets and provide recreational programming to meet community needs.
  • $29,700 to Nipissing Regional Community Residential Hospice over 12 months to develop a comprehensive five-year strategic plan, providing a clear, actionable roadmap for sustainable growth to meet the high demands of the community.

OTF’s Seed grants help organizations build resilience and enhance their ability to deliver programs and services that directly benefit community members. Grantees can use their funding to support organizational planning, pilot a new program and/or build their organizational capacity to plan for future programs and services for the people of Nipissing.

The Ontario government has invested more than $792 million in over 7,300 projects since 2018. These investments have created more than 9,490 full time jobs and generated over $1.1 billion in economic benefits for communities across the province.
