$48,000 in Seniors Community Grant Funding
June 17, 2025NORTH BAY — Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced the Ontario government is investing $48,000 to three of North Bay’s senior organizations through the Seniors Community Grant Program as part of Ontario’s continued celebration of Seniors Month. Funding will support enhancing existing programs and continuing to keep our seniors active, engaged, and socially connected. Today’s funding is in addition to the $370,000 announced last week to support seniors through the Senior Active Living Centres program.
“The government of Ontario is committed to addressing social isolation and helping older adults in Nipissing stay healthy, safe and active in our community,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “Through the Senior Community Grant we are investing $48,000 into programs that enhance the quality of life for seniors.”
Local funding includes:
- $25,000 to the City of North Bay for Seniors Fitness Programs.
- $14,535 to The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie for various seniors’ wellbeing activities.
- $9,075 to the North Bay Public Library for their coffee and conversation program for seniors.

“The North Bay Public Library is very excited to be receiving funding from the Seniors Community Grant Program, and we would like to thank the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility for their support. Funding from this program will allow us to enhance our existing programming by offering twenty new workshops and events over the next 10 months. Events such as Transitioning to Retirement Living, Decluttering, Spooky Book Bingo, and Sip & Stitch will provide opportunities to socialize and learn for those in the community who are aged 55 and older.” – Ravil Veli, CEO of the North Bay Public Library.
“The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie appreciates the funding awarded by the Seniors Community Grant Program. This funding will benefit the tenants of St. Joseph’s on the Lake, the Sisters, and visitors to The Motherhouse, providing new opportunities for physical activity, social programming, and legal workshops that will encourage them to continue to live independently with confidence.” – Maureen Milligan, Manager, Administrative Services and Housing.
