Applications Open for the Ontario Together Trade Fund
May 12, 2025NORTH BAY — Vic Fedeli MPP for Nipissing, announced that the Ontario government is now accepting applications for the new Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF). With a focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the $50 million program will help businesses build local capacity, enhance trade resiliency, and make the necessary investments to successfully expand into new markets.
“In these times of geopolitical uncertainty, our government remains unwavering in our dedication to protect the people of Ontario and strengthen our economy,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “The Ontario Together Trade Fund will provide immediate relief to businesses most impacted by the U.S. tariffs, while laying the foundations for long-term resiliency and prosperity.”
Eligible businesses have the opportunity to access up to $5 million to make near-term investments to serve additional interprovincial customers and re-shore vital supply chains in the face of U.S. tariffs. Projects must address the impacts of U.S. trade disruptions and align with Ontario’s key economic priorities, including:
Trade Diversity:
- Diversifying sales portfolios: Expanding market reach to new markets, with a focus on interprovincial trade.
Trade Security:
- Enhancing competitiveness: Increasing manufacturing capacity and capabilities and increasing profitability through investments in advanced technology and innovative processes.
- Contributing to regional and sectoral ecosystems: Strengthening Ontario’s supply chains through reshoring and efforts to procure more equipment and supplies from Ontario and Canada.
- Creating and retaining jobs
The Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade will be hosting a webinar on Thursday May 22nd to inform potential applicants about the program. Local stakeholders can visit here if they are interested in learning more about this opportunity to strengthen and grow local SME’S.
QUICK FACTS
- OTTF offers complimentary support services for those who qualify, those services include advisory services, accessing skills and talent, and assistance with compliance approvals.
- The project start date cannot be earlier than the date the application is submitted.
- Projects must be completed within a two year time frame.
