$77,000 to Help Kids Stay Active and Healthy in North Bay

NORTH BAY – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $77,088 through Ontario’s After School Program to support the City of North Bay to deliver active recreation programming for the 2024-25 year.
“Our government is proud to support opportunities through the After School Program in North Bay to improving the health and well-being of children and youth while encouraging their development of leadership skills through safe and supervised sport and recreation activities,” said MPP Vic Fedeli.
“Thank you to MPP Fedeli and the Ontario Government for their continued funding and support,” said Mayor Peter Chirico. “This investment allows us to keep running after-school programs at three locations across North Bay, offering a safe and supportive environment for up to 90 children, ages 7 to 12, to stay active, enjoy nutritious snacks, explore their creativity through arts, and get help with their homework.”

- Ontario’s After School Program was launched in 2009 and is currently delivered by 111 organizations across Ontario including municipalities, First Nations and community-based, non-profits with a sport and recreation mandate, such as YMCAs and BGC Clubs.
- Ontario’s After School Program supports supervised sport and recreational activities for more than 13,000 children and youth, from kindergarten to grade 12, in more than 80 communities across the province.
- Participants are provided with a healthy snack and additional programming, such as academic support and arts and cultural activities tailored to meet the needs of the local community.
