$9 Million to Support Hospital Bed Capacity
August 16, 2023NIPISSING – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $9 million to the North Bay Regional Health Centre to support their bedding capacity for the 2023-24 year.
“Our government has continued to make critical investments in our hospital and health workforce to ensure no resource goes untapped so that the North Bay Regional Health Centre has the resources they need to care for patients,” said MPP Vic Fedeli.
Funding breakdown is as follows:
- $4,599,000 in base funding to support 21 Alternate Level of Care (ALC) transitional beds.
- $4,380,000 in one-time funding to support 24 Alternate Health Facility (AHF) transitional beds.
“Today’s funding announcement gives our health centre greater stability and the opportunity to plan for the future. This will assist us as we continue our work to optimize patient flow across our organization and ensure we continue to provide the best possible care to our communities.” – Ryan Jeffers, Vice President Corporate & Chief Financial Officer.
Since 2021-22, our government has invested in expanded bed capacity, amounting to over 3,500 additional beds. This funding is the first step in converting a portion of previously one-time funded beds into permanent base funding, further improving the ability to address acute and post-acute care capacity needs across the hospital sector. Our government is investing up to $1.17 billion in 2023-24 to support bedded capacity at hospitals across Ontario.
