$480,000 in New Hospital Funding
January 24, 2023NIPISSING – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $483,821 to the North Bay Regional Health Centre in one-time funding for the reimbursement of the hospital’s COVID-19 related capital expenses in the 2022-23 fiscal year. This funding is in addition to the $8M in a one-time top up investment to address additional operations and financial pressures announced last April and the $2.7M in one-time funding to support ongoing operations and bedding capacity announced last December.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Bay Regional Health Centre has gone above and beyond to provide exceptional care to patients and families in our community,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “Today’s funding reflects how the provincial government has identified and responded to the growing healthcare needs within the region.”
“Our health care system is seeing provincial wide spikes in demand, pandemic backlogs and long waits to discharge patients to community care. The support from the province has ensured we could continue to provide safe, reliable care to our communities by helping us purchase the equipment required for temporary beds to support the increase in demand at our Health Centre.” – Paul Heinrich, President & CEO of the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
