FUNDING FOR LOCAL ARTS GROUPS REVEALED
February 18, 2016NORTH BAY – Nearly $65,000 in funding is being provided to separate local arts organizations through the Ontario Arts Council, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.
Project grants include:
- $42,000 is being awarded to Aanmitaagzi for two projects. $30,000 is being provided through the Aboriginal Arts Projects program toward the final development phase and rehearsal costs for “Material Witness, ” a dance theatre co-production between Aanmitaagzi and Spiderwoman Theatre of New York, while $12,000 is being awarded through the Aboriginal Artists in Communities program toward “Serpent People,” a community-engaged art installation to be exhibited as part of Ice Follies 2016.
- $12,300 is being awarded to the Nipissing First Nation Culture & Heritage Centre through the Aboriginal Artists in Communities program toward its Nbisiing Cultural Arts Series. Two emerging and one traditional artist will teach participants 16 years and up on seven reserves.
- $10,000 is being awarded to Ice Follies Biennial Inc. through the Media Arts Projects program toward the presentation of “The Deep Dark: Crossing” at the 2016 Ice Follies.
