FEDELI SEEKS ANSWERS ON LOCAL LABOUR DISPUTES
November 16, 2015QUEEN’S PARK – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli today asked the Wynne government what steps it is taking to help resolve serious ongoing labour disputes in the riding.
“There is a sense of chaos and uncertainty at home, due to job cuts and work stoppages at major provincial employers,” Fedeli told the Legislature during Question Period.
“These provincial actions are hurting Nipissing families, students, seniors, and businesses,” added Fedeli, who noted the 350 jobs cut from the North Bay Regional Health Centre, and dozens more cut at Nipissing University and Ontario Northland, which are now both in the midst of contract impasses.
“I’m receiving e-mail on a daily basis, from Nipissing students and parents, concerned they may not be able to complete their semesters,” said Fedeli.
“At Ontario Northland, Unifor’s National President became involved, and laid this lock-out firmly at the feet of the Premier and the Liberal government,” he continued.
“My question to the Minister is, how long are you going let these disruptions drag out?
