Over $935,000 to Support Surgical Procedures in Nipissing
October 5, 2026NORTH BAY— Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing over $935,000 in the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) to support local surgical needs. This funding will address rising delivery costs and delays for surgical procedures at the NBRHC, targeting those with the longest wait times.
“Our government continues to take bold, decisive action to protect Ontario’s healthcare system by reducing wait times for vital surgeries, ensuring families have access to the care they need, close to home,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “This investment will allow the North Bay Regional Health Centre to continue providing critical services to those in Nipissing who need it most.”
Local funding includes:
- $884,300 to support volume-funded programs, including Cancer Surgery, Systemic Treatment, Wait Times – Adult & Pediatric Surgery, Chronic Kidney Disease, Cardiac, and Stroke.
- $51,600 to support globally funded programs, including ear, nose and throat, gynecologic, urologic, and select general and paediatric surgeries.
“We welcome this wise and meaningful investment in care for patients living with chronic diseases and those who require surgery. This funding provided by our provincial government will support patients in priority areas, helping us stabilize and improve access to care for our patients and communities we serve,” said Paul Heinrich, NBRHC President and CEO.
This investment is part of the more than $1.1 billion in additional hospital funding for 2026-27, continuing Ontario’s historic investment in hospitals for a fourth consecutive year. It includes $331 million in base funding to update funding rates for select volume-funded programs and up to $50M in one-time funding to reduce wait times for select globally-funded programs in the hospital sector.
