$892,200 for Infrastructure Upgrades in Local Community Agencies

NIPISSING — Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $892,200 through the Partner Facility Renewal (PFR) Grant to support four community agencies in Nipissing. This funding will help local agencies undertake critical infrastructure repairs and upgrades, enabling them to continue delivering high-quality programs and services, close to home.

“The Ontario government recognizes that local organizations like the Children’s Aid Society, Karis Disability Service (North Region), Community Living North Bay, and Nipissing Transition House play a vital role in delivering essential services to people in Nipissing,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “Through the Partner Facility Renewal Programs funding, the province is helping local service providers make critical enhancements so they can continue providing support to the people who need them most.”

The local agencies receiving funding include:

• $556,800 to the Children’s Aid Society of the District of Nipissing and Parry Sound.
• $299,200 to Karis Disability Services (North Region).
• $32,400 to Community Living North Bay.
• $3,800 to Nipissing Transition House.

“This investment will allow Community Living North Bay to create a fully accessible bathroom at a local Group Home. This newly renovated bathroom will allow care to be delivered with respect and dignity and create an ergonomically safe and sound environment for employees. In addition, accessible bathrooms allow residents to age-in-place, allowing them to live at home longer and reduce demand on local long-term care homes. Funding from the Partner Facility Renewal program supports a range of organizations, including shelters for women and children who have experienced or may be at risk of violence, residences that offer day-to-day support for individuals with developmental disabilities, facilities serving survivors of human trafficking, organizations dedicated to supporting Indigenous communities, and centres that provide services for children and youth with special needs.

This year’s investment will support several community agencies across the province in carrying out critical repairs and upgrades, including improvements to roofing and air conditioning systems, enhanced security features, and accessibility retrofits to kitchens and bathrooms.

• Approximately 19,000 adults with developmental disabilities received supportive living services in 2024-25.
• In 2024-25, more than 60,700 children and youth received community-based rehabilitation services, such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology.
• As well, almost 87,800 students received school-based rehabilitation services from children’s treatment centres.
• In 2024-25, Ontario’s Violence Against Women (VAW) emergency women’s shelters served approximately 12,500 individuals, including women and dependents.
