Over $385,000 for Senior Active Living Centres in Nipissing
June 5, 2026NORTH BAY – Today, Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced that the Ontario government is investing $386,400 to seven Senior Active Living Centres (SALCs) in Nipissing. This funding will support SALC programs by helping deliver the services and community connections seniors need to live healthier, more independent lives.
“The Ontario government is focused on helping seniors stay socially connected, engaged in their communities, and close to home, supporting a happier, better quality of life,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “Through investments in our local Senior Active Living Centers, more seniors in Nipissing have access to health, wellness, and social programs, and have the opportunity to stay active, which plays a key role in maintaining health and mobility.”
Local funding includes:

- $57,640 for the Mattawa Senior Citizen Club
- $57,640 for Club Action 50+ East Ferris
- $57,640 for North Bay Golden Age Club
- $57,640 for Les Compagnons d’or
- $57,640 for the Village Seniors Active Living Centre
- $53,408 for the Powassan Seniors in Action program
- $44,800 for the Callander Elderly Persons Centre (Royal Canadian Legion Branch 445)
The Ontario government is marking 60 years of supporting SALC programs with a new investment of $22.8 million to help seniors across the province stay active, healthy, and socially connected. Today’s announcement builds on the province’s historic $17 million funding increase in 2024, which supported the opening of more than 100 new SALC programs across Ontario.
SALC programs offer a range of initiatives that bring seniors together to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, including ongoing recreational, social, and lifestyle activities. The province partners with a range of organizations to deliver SALC programs, including municipalities, non-profit corporations, registered charities, Indigenous groups, Legions, Lions Clubs, and recreational clubs.
Today’s announcement comes as Ontario highlights the beginning of Seniors Month, a time to celebrate the accomplishments of older adults across the province and highlight the programs and services available to support their needs.
