June 5, 2026BONFIELD – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced that the Ontario government is providing the Township of Bonfield with up to $380,000 to help cover essential infrastructure repair costs due to flooding that occurred in June 2025. This support, provided through the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance (MDRA) program, is part of the province’s plan to protect Ontario by investing in repairs to critical infrastructure when disaster strikes, keeping workers on the job and communities safe.

“We’re pleased to share that the Ontario government is providing up to $380,000 through the MDRA program to help the municipality offset the costs of repairing critical infrastructure,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “Today’s investment reflects Ontario’s continued commitment to helping municipalities recover from unexpected natural disasters, and to keeping our communities safe.”
“On behalf of our community, council and staff I would like to express a heartfelt thank you, and strong gratitude for the funding we received from the Provincial Government and MPP Vic Fedeli. The MDRA program reimburses the Township for the critical and extraordinary repairs to our road and infrastructure due to the storm in June 2025. The Storm damaged several roads and left residents stranded. This funding assures residents and the township that the repairs are completed and proves that working together between the community, municipality, and province, we can become more resilient to future storms.” – Narry Paquette, Mayor, Bonfield Township.
On June 21, 2025, the Township of Bonfield experienced extraordinary rainfall, causing flooding throughout the municipality. The MDRA funding will help the Township cover the costs of repairing roads and other essential infrastructure damaged by the flood.
Ontario’s MDRA program helps municipalities pay for extraordinary emergency response and cleanup costs resulting from natural disasters. Funding can be used to repair essential property and infrastructure, such as roads and bridges.
