Applications Open for Ontario’s Rural Economic Development Program
January 23, 2024Funding to help create jobs and increase growth in rural communities
NORTH BAY – Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is positioning rural Ontario for increased economic development and prosperity by launching a new intake under the Rural Economic Development (RED) program.
“Ontario’s Rural Economic Development program provides cost-share funding to support activities that can create strong rural communities in Nipissing,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “We encourage municipalities, indigenous communities and not-for-profit groups to apply.”
The funding opens doors to rural economic development through:
- funding assistance to address barriers to economic development and labour force challenges, better position rural communities to attract or retain investment, and enhance economic growth
- funding to build community capacity and support for economic development in Ontario’s rural communities
- investments in rural communities to help diversify and grow local economies – making economic growth more inclusive so rural Ontario continues to share in the province’s economic prosperity
Since 2019, more than $21.6 million has been invested by the Ontario government to support 388 economic development projects through the RED program.
The intake opened on January 21, 2024, and closes on February 21, 2024. For further details visit the following website: Rural Economic Development program | ontario.ca
