Ontario Supporting Business and Job Creation in Mattawa

September 20, 2019

Ontario’s government is supporting eco-tourism in Northern Ontario by investing in Mattawa River Resort, an all-season vacation facility. This will create six full-time and eight part-time jobs.

Today, Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced $147,641 for the resort, on behalf of Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. The funding will be used to expand and refurbish the waterside facility, winterize its cottages and make improvements to the onsite restaurant. It will also bring snowmobiling, all-terrain vehicle and cross-country skiing services to the resort.

“Tourism is a vital economic contributor to four-season destinations such as Mattawa. This investment will help create jobs and improving access to winter activities in the North to attract visitors to the region,” said MPP Fedeli. “This is just one more way we are signaling to the world that Northern Ontario is open for business and open for jobs,” he added.
