Government Adopts Elements of Fedeli Financial Literacy Bill

November 3, 2017

QUEEN’S PARK — Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is pleased that essential elements of his financial literacy bill, Bill 69, are being adopted by the provincial government.

The Education Minister today announced that starting next fall, a new careers studies course including a financial literacy component will be taught to Grade 10 students in Ontario.

“While this is not a stand-alone course as I believe is necessary, this is an important step forward for Ontario students if done properly. Financial literacy skills such as household budgeting and understanding credit are vitally important for Ontario youth as they enter the adult world,” said Fedeli.

“This is a victory for those of us who are pushing for this to be a priority in our education system.”
