GOVERNMENT WON’T BACK FEDELI BUDGET MOTION
February 24, 2016QUEEN’S PARK – Today, the Wynne government refused to support Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli’s Opposition Day motion to incorporate three recommendations the people of Ontario deserve to see included in the 2016 Budget.
The three recommendations are a credible plan for affordable hydro, ensuring proper management of Ontario’s health care system, and a credible plan to balance the budget.
“These recommendations are based on conversations our caucus has been having with people from across the province, as well as at the doors in the recent Whitby-Oshawa by-election,” said Fedeli.
“These issues are what people are already feeling the impact of, and what they are worried about. They are issues that are making life more difficult here in Ontario – more unaffordable, uncompetitive and unsustainable.”
The government had promised to take the public consultation process seriously, but the early release of the Budget means the Government will not incorporate the input received at the pre-budget consultations and committee hearings into the Budget.
“The government missed one of their last opportunities to show the people of Ontario that they are listening and addressing their concerns in the Budget,” concluded Fedeli.
“The three recommendations the Official Opposition outlined are perfectly reasonable requests which will make life more affordable for Ontario families and businesses, and will ensure this government can better meet the needs of Ontarians.”
