LIBERALS HIKE HYDRO RATES…AGAIN!

April 20, 2015

QUEEN’S PARK – Life in Ontario will become even more unaffordable, especially in the
North, when hydro rates go up again on May 1, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has announced the peak rate for hydro will go up 15
per cent to 16.1 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) – now approaching four times what it was
when the Liberals took office in 2003, Fedeli stated.

“How are families going to afford this? People across this province are already being
forced to choose between food and fuel or whether to heat or eat. This is
unconscionable,” Fedeli charged.

For someone with 800 kilowatts of usage per month, the OEB estimates this will mean
an increase of nearly $6 on a monthly bill.

“At every single turn, the Liberals find ways to increase the cost of hydro, making Ontario
less competitive and deterring badly needed investment and job creation. They continue
to take this province in the wrong direction,” Fedeli added.
