LACK OF LIBERAL INTEGRITY “UNPRECENDENTED”

February 19, 2015

QUEEN’S PARK – Today’s bombshell revelation from the Chief Electoral Officer
regarding Liberal actions surrounding the Sudbury by-election is shameful and appalling,
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

“The Liberals broke the law according to the Chief Electoral Officer,” said Fedeli, who
noted his report found that the actions of Premier Kathleen Wynne’s deputy chief of staff,
Pat Sorbara, and Sudbury Police Services Board Chair Gerry Lougheed Junior were
“apparent contraventions” of the Elections Act. This relates to allegations a bribe was
offered to a potential candidate to keep him from running for office.

“The Premier traded integrity for a tainted political win, and needs to take responsibility,”
Fedeli said as he demanded Sorbara and Lougheed resign.

The Chief Electoral Officer stated his findings are “unprecedented” in the history of the
province.

Earlier, this week, Fedeli stood in the Legislature to outline the latest allegations from the
OPP with regards to deleted emails in the Premier’s office – one of three OPP
investigations currently under way into the Wynne government.

“Despite hollow promises of accountability and transparency, the Premier is putting the
interests of the Liberal Party ahead of doing what is right,” Fedeli added.

“Ontarians have a right to expect the Wynne Liberal government to act with even a
morsel of integrity – but it’s something they’re failing miserably at.”
